iDose® TR – Sustained-Release Glaucoma Treatment

A next-generation treatment designed to continuously deliver glaucoma medication directly within the eye.

What Is iDose TR?

iDose TR is an innovative, sustained-release drug delivery implant used to lower intraocular pressure (IOP) in patients with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension. Unlike traditional eye drops that require daily use, iDose TR continuously releases a measured dose of medication directly into the eye for months at a time, helping maintain stable eye pressure and reducing the burden of daily drops.

How Does iDose TR Work?

The iDose TR implant is a tiny titanium device, smaller than a grain of rice, that is surgically inserted into the eye during a quick, minimally invasive procedure. Once in place, it slowly releases a well-known glaucoma medication (travoprost) into the front part of the eye. This controlled release provides long-term pressure reduction and helps protect the optic nerve from further damage.

Benefits of iDose TR

  • Long-term IOP control without daily drops
  • Reduces fluctuations in eye pressure
  • Eliminates issues related to missed doses or improper drop use
  • Minimally invasive and performed in-office or outpatient setting
  • Sustained delivery for months, with the possibility of future replacement as needed

Who Is a Candidate for iDose TR?

Patients diagnosed with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension who are looking for an alternative to daily eye drops may benefit from iDose TR. During a comprehensive glaucoma evaluation, our ophthalmologists will determine whether this treatment is appropriate based on your eye health, medical history, and current treatment plan.

What to Expect During the Procedure

The iDose TR implant is placed during a quick outpatient procedure. Most patients experience little to no discomfort and resume normal activities shortly after. Because the medication is delivered directly into the eye, it bypasses the challenges of topical drop absorption and compliance.

Aftercare and Follow-Up

Following your iDose TR procedure, our doctors will monitor your eye pressure and healing progress during scheduled follow-up visits. The implant remains in place while it slowly releases medication, ensuring consistent and reliable control of your glaucoma.
